Wow! This article states it all about SQR's! My school just had a SQR and everyone performed just like you stated in this article. Teachers work hard every day. Teachers are under so much STRESS that if these SQR's continue in this matter this old age profession will not be known as a profession that helped students. But it will be known as a profession that no one wants!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Teaching was once an occupation that several people admired because a teacher made a change in a child's life. Now, its nothing but paper work and less effective teaching in the classroom. When will someone step up and say, "enough is enough!"

I couldn't agree more with this post. In fact, this phenomenon scares me on a daily basis. You see I have an B.S. undergrad in Biology and Chemistry. We had to work, think, and produce. Now that I've moved on in life and consequently into a graduate program in education...I'm appalled at what other majors are allowed to get away. I keep rewriting the same papers and turning them in with just minor changes! Why not? It's the same boneheaded material in every class. :(

My students are NOT allowed to use Wikipedia, unless they are using it as a support source and they have to provide other sources to back up the facts. My ESL students have a really difficult time with internet research (or any research in general) because they want to just copy everything from the website. We did a research project using only pictures and visuals which went really well, and make frequent library trips.... books are STILL important!!

Thanks for this info, I think I am going to try it with my students in a few weeks! :)

This is absolutly true ... on one point : Joan had wine, red wine, When exhausted or ill, she used to dunk pieces of bread in red wine and water.

For more details about Joan's (real) life, may I suggest to french reading fans of the Maid, to read my last book : "J'ai nom Jeanne la Pucelle, Journal d'une courte vie" (Editions Benevent, France).
