I do, indeed, have a soft spot for pirates.
The personalities, the raids, the lingo (most of which pirates never said), the Great Age of Piracy (roughly the the late 1500s to the early 1700s) holds a soft spot in my heart. Never mind that they’re were wanton criminals, mostly drunk and whoring…its a miracle those guys could wear so many layers in the Caribbean sun.
Thus, a possibly short-lived gift to the Neighborhood.
Attached is three opening scenes from the best cinematic rendition of Treasure Island ever made: the 1990 TNT television movie starring Christian Bale and Charlton Heston. For sake of space, I only include the first three parts–the rest can easily be found on YouTube.
Enjoy, but hurry. The DVD will be released September 27, so chances are this YouTube video won’t last long.
